Oda Tametsuna (小田為綱)

Tametsuna ODA (1839 - 1901) was a scholar and educator and statesman coming from Ube Village, Kunohe County (present Ube-cho, Kuji City), Iwate Prefecture. His common name was Senya.

After learning at Shoheiko (Shohei-zaka Gakumon-jo), he became a professor and dormitory superintendent of Sakujinkan, a domain school of the Morioka Domain, and instructed Takashi HARA and others. After the Meiji Restoration, he submitted a scheme of reclaiming the Northern Ou region, however it was ignored.

Following the Seinan War in 1877, he joined the group planning raising a samurai army in Tohoku region, however, before the action, he was arrested and imprisoned as well as the other followers (the incident has been called 'Sanada Taiko Jiken' after the name of the ringleader who was a Shinto priest). In 1898, he won a seat in the House of Representatives, however, he died during his term of office in 1901.

Kenpo Soko Hyorin' is considered to have written by him from 1880 to 1881 and to be important as a privately-drafted constitution advocating the people's rights.
